The construction of Pokhara International Airport has gained momentum.
The main contractor of project CAMC Engineering from China have accelerated the work of ground flattening. With the help of dozers, excavators, loader and tipper, the flattening work is being conducted rapidly. 30 Chinese technicians and 150 Nepali labours are working day night.
Krishna Chapagain, officer of CAMC informed Pokhara News that 5% work of flattening land is completed and 80% work of flattening land will be completed by month of Jestha. More construction materials will be imported from China within one month which will further accelerate the construction work. Chapagain also informed that the construction work of runway and terminal will begin from Jestha during the monsoons.
Company that began work by building office, technicians and labours residing place, is expected to complete the project by July 2020.
The airport is being built with the investment of 22 Billions provided by China’s EXIM Bank as a concessional loan.
