Destination Branding Efforts Made To Promote Religious Tourism of Nepal

Nepal Tourism Board has initiated efforts to brand Nepal as a destination of Buddhist tourists. NTB organized promotion activities in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, countries with huge Buddhist population and prospect market, in coordination with Society Of Travels And Tours Operator (SOTTO) ,Nepal.

A promotion program called “Nepal Sales Mission 2019” was organized on 10,11 and 12th of June to promote Nepal as a gateway of Buddhist circuit and attractive religious tourism destination. A documentry on Lumbini area prepared by NTB and another promotional documentry about Nepal made by SOTTO were showcased in the program.

12,454 tourists from Vietnam, 3,790 tourists from Cambodia and 53,250 tourists from Thailand visited Nepal in 2018 alone. Facilitating this, Nepal Airlines Corporation is currently operating 3 flights in a week from Kathmandu to Bangkok. The regular flights is expected to further aid in increase in flow of tourist in Nepal from these countries.
