Tourism Pokhara. Two different festivals started together on Thursday here at Pokhara.
Separated by only 2 km distance, this could be the first occasion in whole Nepal when two large scale events are being organised at same time. Pokhara Industrial and Business Fair, organized by Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Pokhara Exhibition Center was inaugurated by Yagya Bahadur Thapa, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs while Pokhara Mahotsab organized by United Club Pokhara at Amar Singh Ground was inaugurated by MP Khagaraj Adhikari.
Amidst public criticism both festivals successfully began from Thursday. However Pokhara Mahotsab seemed succed in attracting more spectators. The Industrial and Business Fair organized by one of the oldest and most comprehensive association of Pokhara failed to attract spectators as per expectation.
The guests present in Mahotsab was also fairly greater than that of Industrial Fair. Most of the newly elected Members of Parliament and Provincial Assembly members were seen in stage of Mahotsab. Mr. Damu Adhikari, coordinator of Promotion Committee of Business Fair claimed that the opening ceremony featured 130 organizations with banners. Similarly Raju Shrestha, coordinator of Promotion Committee of Pokhara Mahotsab informed that 90 organisations took part in the opening program. Even though a public holiday was declared today, very low public turnout was observed as the Pokhara Bus Dealers refused to operate their vehicles citing their protest program.
In the opening program of Industrial and Business Fair, Minister Thapa said that the capital of province is to be decided by Provincial Assembly rather than present government. He also informed that the new government will be formed within few weeks time. Similarly MP Khaga Raj Adhikari, speaking in opening ceremony of Pokhara Mahotsab said that everyone should learn from the organizer club’s effort.
