Stadium is meant to organise sports event. But here at Pokhara Stadium, a semi covered hall seems to be built for serving political parties and their leaders.
During election time, CPN UML had asked for permissions to conduct programs, but District Sports Council in strong words refused to provide any infrastructure of stadium for political motive. The same council now gave permission to Mongol organisation to organise programs halting preparations for upcoming Nepal Sports Council (NSC) handball cup.
A 30 membered group of Nepal Army that went for necessary maintainence and preparation for NSC handball cup that is starting from 19th Poush, was left in dismay when a tent and a kitchen for 1000 people was set at the handball ground. Yaam Gurung, chairman of District Sports Development Council himself seemed uninformed about the setup as he went to remove the tent set at ground.
The employees of council also seemed alien to the situation. Chairman of Regional Sports Development Committee Mr. Khagaraj Paudel expressed disappointment to such activities and wrote application to District Police Office Kaski however no immediate action were seen.
A remarkable note is that the stadium is being reconstructed for upcoming SAG. These type of practices might profit some individuals however will not help for overall sports development of the nation.
