The statues of martyrs and national icons in various Chowks of Pokhara city will be now re-established at Jamunbot, Sarangkot of Po.Le Metropolitan -18. Metropolitan has forwarded a work plan to develop a well managed park establishing the removed statues.
Manju Devi Gurung, deputy mayor of city, informed that the process to construct park is already forwarded. Citing the increasing traffic jam, the statues and traffic island were removed from roads of Pokhara. The public complaint regarding the manage of thus removed statues forced the metropolitan to accelerate the construction of park, Mr Ekraj Giri, the press coordinator of Dep. Mayor Gurung informed.
Er. Mahendra Godar said that the Metropolitan has forwarded a master plan to build a park in 57 ropanis of land. The work has started for the cost estimation of acquiring land and building wall, Godar informed.
The statues of Lakhan Thapa in Prithvi Chowk, Amar Singh Thapa in Amar Singh Chowk and Yogendra Sherchan in Zero Km were removed for road expansion. The Metropolitan was planning to re establish the removed statues at a park but the public were unsatisfied with the slow work processing.
The Metropolitan executive meeting has already decided to build the park. The inspection team including Dep. Mayor Manju Gurung and other officials including engineers team inspected the site of park construction on Thursday.
