First month of 2019 saw a massive increase of 25.4% international tourist inflow in Nepal compared to last year.
As government plans to celebrate Visit Nepal Year 2020, this statistics can give much needed boost its optimistic plan to bring in 2 Million tourists. As per the data provided by Department of Immigration, 91,793 tourist visited Nepal in this period out of which 77,300 tourists used air route while 14,493 arrived via roadways. During the time frame, 14,650 tourists from India and 13,688 tourists from China visited Nepal which is a increase of 20.6 pc and 14pc respectively than 2018. India and China rank in top two of source country of tourist coming to Nepal.
Similarly 11,996 tourists from European nations, 7028 from USA and 3500 from Australia visited Nepal in January. This increase is possible as a result of effective tourism promotion of Nepal in international stage, says Dipak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board.
