With the completion of reconstruction, the Manakamana Temple of Gorkha has now been open for the devotees.
The temple damaged severely by the mighty earthquake of 2015 has been opened for puja since Thursday morning, shared main priest Insan Thapa. Now, the devotees can conduct puja from the main gate of the temple as they did in the old structure, he said, adding that it is opened for devotees after holding puja on the auspicious hour.
However, the repair outside the temple is yet to be completed. It took some 43 months for the reconstruction of the temple, forcing prayers to worship in the makeshift hut, according to coordination of temple reconstruction committee, Narendra Babu Shrestha.
The temple was reconstructed in pagoda style after seeking permission from the Department of Archeology. It was renovated at the cost of Rs 150 million. The reconstruction was initiated after three months of the earthquake.
