The 13th edition of Safal International Pokhara Marathon is set for 19th of February this year.
The grand event of athletics in Pokhara will see runners not only from Nepal but also from Japan, China, France and other european countries. The 42.295 Km long marathon winner will bag Rs 100,000 while the first and second runner-ups will receive Rs 70,000 and Rs 50,000 cash prize respectively.
The organizers have formed 26 sub committees to successfully conclude the event that has already seen a huge support and coordination from 357 various organisations. The event has also been successful in attracting financial support from Nepalese all over the world.
Rs 28,00,000 has been collected from various sources till date that includes Rs 15,97,000 from Nepalese residing in foreign countries. Out of foreign contribution, Rs 7,50,000 has been collected from Pokhreli Manch UK, Rs 5,47,000 from Nepalese in Hongkong and 300,000 from Nepalese residing in Boston and Hampshire of US.
10 Km Street running, U-16 Inter School running, 400 metre wheelchair male, 100 metre wheelchair female and Run for Fun will be other events of marathon.
