The preparations for Pokhara Street Festival commencing from 28 Dec is completed

Tourism Pokhara. The preparations for 19th edition of Pokhara Street Festival commencing from 28 Dec is completed. Organizer, Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN), on a press met on Tuesday announced that program is all set to fire the streets of Lakeside till 1st of jan.

Organised with a slogan of “eat in street, dance in street , enjoy in street”, the event is set to begin with cultural program from newly formed all 7 province of Nepal as well as 4 other countries namely India, China, Japan and Korea. The festival will also include handicraft exhibition, documentries on daring sports and Childrens funpark as well. Mr Laxman Baral 2nd chairperson of Reban informed that the cultural program will include Satar community from province 1, Maithali community from Province 2, Newar community from province 3, Gurung community from province 4, Tharu community from province 5, Humleli community from province 6 and Deuda community from province 7 along with their traditional dress and various cultural shows.

Chairman and Coordinator of the festival Mr Chau Bahadur Gurung told that the program is expected to attract about 5 hundred thousands tourist throughout five day period from Pokhara surrounding as well as other parts of nation. The program going to be held at Lakeside including Komagene Park is prepared to welcome 100 thousands guest per day, Mr Gurung claimed. He further added that the festival is successful in attracting both internal as well as international tourists during the off seasons of tourism sector.

The main stage is set at Komagane park which is hosting the evening pop concerts while a 3.5km long festive trail is prepared from Fishtail gate lakeside to Dihikopatan. Gorkha Bruary is the major sponsor of the event and Nepal Tourism Board has taken the role of promoter. The whole Lakeside is decorated with banneret and ensigns.
Oranges from 6 districts Kaski, Tanahu, Gorkha, Syangja, Parbat and Lamjung are going to have separate stalls. Information on orange farming is also going to provided in coordination of Regional Agriculture Development Office. Similarly medical partner Medacity Hospital is giving free diabetes checkup facility to the spectators.

Madhav Lamsal from Regional Agriculture Office informed that there will be different 15 free orange stalls. Along with this Junaar from Sindhuli will also have a separate stall. Kedar Nath Sharma, chairman of Pokhara Tourism Council brought into light the contribution of street festival in promoting tourism in the area. Ex Chairman of Reban Mr Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai put forward the idea to establish Lakeside as no vehicle zone after street festival. Advisor Mr Balaram Pahadi requested to make the program a huge success as it has developed as a brand of Pokhara city.

Mr Dinanath Baral from Nepal Journalist Federation, Kaski pleaded the organizers and local administration to pay attention to black marketers and control such practices.
